Recent campaign over social media demanding employment in Railways without writing the competitive examination is not feasible as per the Apprenticeship Act 1961 and several judgments by Hon’ble Supreme Court.

Railway are already providing relaxation to such candidates in the RRC examination. All are advised to avail the opportunity and not get misguided.

The apprentice Act, 1961 was enacted with the objective of regulating the program of training of apprentices in the industry by utilizing the facilities available there in for imparting on the job training. Indian Railways has accordingly been providing training to applicants in designated trades such as Fitter, Welder, Electrician etc since August 1963. These applicants are takes as Apprentices based on their academic qualification without any competitive examination.

Ministry of Railway’s accordingly introduced a scheme whereby 20% of the vacancies in case of direct recruitment to entry level posts in Pay Band-1, having Grade Pay of Rs. 1800/- shall be filled by giving preference to Course Completed Act Apprentices (CCAAs) trained in Railway establishments and possessing National Apprenticeship Certificate(NAC).

All Course Completed Act Apprentices are hereby advised not to be misguided by any claims to the contrary and focus o­n the forthcoming examination for recruitment notified under CEN RRC 1/2019, where they stand to be given preference as per rules.
