RRVUNL Technician III Selection Process 2025
RRVUNL Technician-III Selection Process and Exam Pattern 2025
Selection Process: The selection process shall consist of two phases:
- (i) Pre Examination
- (ii) Main Examination
There shall be separate question papers for the following groups:
- Group-I of RVUN and Technician-III (ITI) of JVVN (Common Exam)
- Group-II of RVUN
- Group-III of RVUN
- Group-IV of RVUN
The Pre-Examination will be conducted only for screening and shortlisting of candidates. Marks obtained in the Pre Exam shall not be counted for final merit. Final selection will be based on marks secured in the Main Examination, preference for Nigam, and availability of vacancies.

- 📘 Question Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) — Objective Type.
- 🗣️ Language: Bilingual (English & Hindi). In case of ambiguity, English version shall prevail.
- ❌ Negative Marking: 1/4 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer in Main Exam.
- 💡 Pre Exam: Screening purpose only — no marks added to final merit.
- 👨💼 Interview: No interview shall be conducted.
Minimum Passing Marks (Main Examination)

Note: Total marks obtained in the Main Examination shall be considered for determining the final merit list. Candidates applying against the “Unreserved” category must meet the same qualifying marks criteria as UR candidates.

Core Electrical / Electronics Fundamentals
- Matter, atom, Bohr concept (basic).
- Electrostatics: Coulomb’s law, electric field, potential, potential difference.
- Ohm’s law, Resistance, classification & colour code of resistors, Kirchhoff’s laws, Wheatstone bridge, multimeter usage.
- Magnetism: types of magnets, properties, electromagnetism, E-M relays, cores and applications.
Semiconductor Devices & Diodes
- Energy band theory — conductors / insulators / semiconductors, intrinsic/extrinsic, P-type & N-type, PN-junction.
- Diode: symbol, equivalent circuit, V–I characteristics, static & dynamic resistance.
- Diode types & applications: Zener, Tunnel, Varactor, Schottky, LED and their uses.
Transistors & Power Devices
- UJT, BJT (basic), FET, MOSFET (enhancement/depletion), SCR, DIAC, TRIAC, IGBT, GTO, IGCT — construction, characteristics and applications (overview).
Machines & Drives (Basic)
- Generator & Motor basics — EMF equation, types, DC machine characteristics, methods of speed control, uses of motors & generators.
Syllabus emphasis: Theory + practical understanding relevant to ITI level. (Prepare with basic diagrams & simple numericals.)
COPA — Computer Operator & Programming Assistant (Syllabus Highlights)
Fundamentals of Computers
- History & generations, hardware & software, functional block diagram.
- Primary memory: RAM/ROM/PROM/EPROM. Secondary memory: HDD, SSD, CD/DVD, access methods.
- OS concepts: basic DOS/Unix commands (date, echo, ls, cp, rm, mv, chmod, grep, pwd), Windows basics.
Programming & Languages
- Machine / Assembly / High level languages, compilers & interpreters.
- Basic C/C++ introduction & simple flowcharting exercises.
- MS-Office: MS-Word, MS-Excel (basic operations & formulas).
Networking, Internet & DBMS
- Basic networking: serial/parallel, LAN/WAN/MAN, TCP/IP basics.
- Internet: e-mail, FTP, web concepts; basic DBMS/RDBMS concepts.
Digital Logic & Electronics Basics
- Number systems (binary/decimal/octal/hex), 1’s & 2’s complement, binary arithmetic.
- Logic gates (NOT, AND, OR, NAND, NOR), Boolean algebra, intro to flip-flops & counters.
- Basics of semiconductors, PN junction, diode & basic transistor operation (overview).
Tip: Focus on practical commands, MS-Office usage, simple programs and number-system problems.
